Taking the Leap: A Survivor's Story of Sexual Assault
U.S. Air Force Maj. Donna Sickler, 374th Medical Group group practice manager and alternate sexual assault response coordinator out of Yokota Air Base, Japan, poses for a photo while deployed to Camp Phoenix in Kabul, Afghanistan, Feb. 2011. Two months after this photo was taken, Sickler would be the victim of a sexual assault. After years of healing, Sickler now uses the power of her story to inspire others to come out of the shadows to not only address their own traumas, but to stand as one against sexual assault.
