Col. J. Marcus "Mark" Hicks is Commander, 374th Airlift Wing, Yokota Air Base, Japan. He is responsible for the management, training, command and control of the Department of Defense's only airlift wing in the Pacific theater. As the Western Pacific airlift hub, Yokota Air Base provides mission ready forces and base operating support to guarantee U.S. forward presence and crisis response.
Colonel Hicks entered the Air Force in December 1986 after receiving his commission through Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps at the Virginia Military Institute. His operational flying experience includes special operations assignments in the AC-130H and AC-130U. His command assignments include the Combined Joint Special Operations Air Component at Joint Base Balad, Iraq, and the 14th Weapons Squadron at Hurlburt Field, Fla. He served in various staff assignments, including Air Force Special Operations Command, Air Combat Command, and Assistant Deputy Director for Special Operations, Operations Directorate, the Joint Staff.
A command pilot, Colonel Hicks has more than 3,000 flying hours.
