Commercial airlines divert to Yokota

3/11/2011 - YOKOTA AIR BASE, Japan -- Several commercial aircraft have diverted to Yokota Air Base from Narita International Airport, after it closed in response to an earthquake that hit mainland Japan at 2:50 p.m. today.

"The 374th Airlift Wing is prepared and ready to assist during this time of crisis," said Col. Otto Feather, 374th Airlift Wing commander.

I was on flight DL 295 diverted to Yokota. I send my thanks and gratitude to the service men and women Red Cross volunteers Boy Scouts and all others who pitched in to make our time with you safe and comfortable. It was a very impressive operation and all staff at Yokota were professional caring and welcoming. Your training has paid off.

Just want to give kudos to service personel at Yokota for doing an outstanding job during this tragic situation. Growing up at Yokota I have seen the many drills and emergency peparness that the airmen do. So from us here states side I would like to say Thank you for a job well done and our hearts and prayers go to all of you down there

Woke up to the news of the earthquake and tsunami this morning. So devastating. My husband was supposed to land at Narita. Missed it all by 2 hours and was sent to your Air Base. Thank you so much for being there and for everything you do.

Can you confirm that Continental flight 7 from Houston was diverted to Yakota Our daughter in law and family were on that flight and was scheduled to take the train to Hamamatzu.Our daughter in law's name is Jun Ando Opper with two children 4 and 2. My mom has been sitting on a plane that was diverted to Yokota for about four or five hours now with no food or water....

Ma'am I work at Yokotas Radar Approach Control Facility. Structurally Narita is fine as I'm sure your husband is too.

Narita is closed to air traffic. They were not affected by tsunami. The large tsunami on the news was in Sendai very far north of Tokyo.Flight info httpwww.narita-airport.jpenYou can also contact the airlines.

Sir my fiance' was in that NARITA Airport from JL 746 Manila-Narita.PLease i want to know if HOWS the narita condition now i am so so worried please reply and i am so struggling where he is NOW there. coz he still have connecting flights to CHICAGO at 7pm JST TImeThanks.... hope for your response
