Steppin' up to the challenge

YOKOTA AIR BASE, Japan -- Members of the 374th Airlift Wing board a C-130 Hercules as part of a deployment scenario during the Pacific Air Forces Initial Response Readiness Inspection earlier this week. The inspection tested the wing's ability to execute its primary tasks of deployment, reception, employment, base defense and non-combatant evacuation operations in response to heightened tensions in the region. As the airlift hub of the Western Pacific, Yokota Air Base provides dedicated airlift support of passengers, supplies and equipment throughout the region. The wing will receive its official rating during the IRRI outbrief March 9. (U.S. Air Force photo by Senior Airman Veronica Pierce)
