Today, Team Yokota recognizes Gen. Benjamin O. Davis Jr., whom Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen defined as “a great warrior, a great officer, and a great American.” Ostracized at West Point, Davis overcame racial discrimination to devote 33 years of his life to military service. During this time, he led the Tuskegee Airmen as a combat pilot in World War II and helped President Harry S. Truman draft an Air Force plan to integrate the armed forces. Team Yokota looks forward to celebrating all monthly observances and recognizing Airmen of all colors and backgrounds who have made lasting contributions to our Total Force.
