Commander's Corner: May 2, 2014

YOKOTA AIR BASE, Japan -- I've said it before and I'll say it again: there's something special about Yokota. I'm proud to announce that one of our own, Senior Airmen Ariful Haque from our Civil Engineering Squadron has been selected as one of 12 Air Force level Outstanding Airmen of the Year for his achievements both on and off duty.

Additionally, our Professional Airlifters have been recognized by PACAF with the nomination for the George C. Kenney Award. The 36th Airlift Squadron and Combat Mobility Flight were honored for their innovative efforts to enhance our Low-Cost-Low-Altitude airdrop techniques.

Accolades like these don't happen by accident. They reflect the hard work and dedication that our Airmen demonstrate 24/7 here at Yokota. They are also the result of effective leaders who direct their teams to achieve excellence and take the time to capture success stories through awards, decorations and performance reports. As demonstrated by SrA Haque and our Airlift team; when leaders take care of their Airmen, the results are truly phenomenal. It's a key part of what makes us the Best Wing in the Pacific.
