Commander's Corner: Jan. 10, 2014

YOKOTA AIR BASE, Japan -- 2013 was a year marked by tough challenges and incredible successes. Despite a reduction in flying hours, sequestration, government shutdown and civilian furloughs, we came together to continue our mission here in the Western Pacific.

We delivered professional airlift in a series of exercises and real-world crises, maintained the base through some unprecedented budget challenges, took care of our people, and stayed prepared for future operations. The dozens of PACAF and Air Force awards that you earned this year are testament to the hard work of team Yokota.

This year, we will build upon our successes, focus on the wing's priorities, and leverage our place as the Best Wing in the Pacific. In doing so, we will be PACAF's "no fail/first choice option" for mission success with proven base infrastructure and plans to support theater contingencies. Our professional Airmen will continue to be recognized as the best in PACAF and the Air Force. Here's to another great year!
