Holiday Safety Message Published Nov. 25, 2013 By Lt. Gen. Salvatore Angelella Fifth Air Force YOKOTA AIR BASE, Japan -- Thank you for the superb work you have done this year. Your unwavering professionalism and dedication made significant contributions to our alliance with Japan and strengthened the bedrock for America's rebalance to the Pacific. I am extremely proud of our team and the sacrifices you and your families continue to make in order to support our mission. Last year the Fifth Air Force family suffered the loss of two Airmen over the holiday season; our goal this year is zero. All 5th Air Force Airmen, uniformed and civilian, have a responsibility to ensure a safe holiday for themselves, their fellow Airmen, their wingmen, and their families by being alert to safety risks on and off duty. I urge you to use common sense and keep your focus on risk management as we strive to enjoy a mishap-free season. The holidays can be a stressful time, especially for those who serve overseas. I ask that you be a good wingman and keep an eye on one another. If you find a friend, coworker or family member struggling, intervene and help get them the support they deserve. Additionally, if you find yourself needing support, please do not hesitate to seek assistance through your chain of command. You all have done a fantastic job this year. Thank you again for your service and the freedoms each of you serve to protect. Marci and I wish you and your family a safe and happy holiday season.
