Commander's Corner: Sept. 20, 2013 Published Sept. 19, 2013 By Col. Mark August 374th Airlift Wing YOKOTA AIR BASE, Japan -- This weekend, we celebrate 66 years of heritage and tradition at the 2013 Yokota Air Force Ball. It's a great opportunity to recognize not only where we have been, but also where we are going. The 374th Airlift Wing has been operating here at Yokota for more than 25 years, and with more than 70 years of history, our Operations Group predates the Air Force itself. This year's theme, "Together Toward Tomorrow," is especially appropriate. Whether we are working alongside our Japanese partners and regional allies, or teaming up with the Joint community, we know that we can overcome future challenges through the spirit of teamwork and perseverance that Team Yokota embodies. It's a great time to be an Airman here at Yokota. As the U.S. rebalances toward the Pacific, Yokota will continue to grow as a strategic location and regional center of gravity. We are PACOM's option for Professional Airlift in the Western Pacific. And so this weekend, I look forward to celebrating with you and our JASDF partners, while recognizing our best years are still ahead of us!
