Last weekend featured the 25th Annual Fussa International Festival. Unlike more traditional Japanese festivals, this event celebrates Fussa's close ties with its interna-tional friends and neighbors, many of whom live and work here at Yokota. An incident at this year's event raised even greater awareness about Yokota's positive contri-butions outside the gate.

On Sunday Yokota firefighters Senior Airmen Jonathan Douglas and Thomas Kirts were out enjoying this event with Fire Crew Chief Kazuhisa Iizuka when they saw a woman suddenly collapse from heat exhaustion. Without hesitation the firefighters assessed the situation, rendered first aid to the woman and called for emer-gency responders. When the woman's pulse and breathing stopped, the team provided CPR, reviving her just as the ambulance arrived on scene. Her condition later stabi-lized at a local hospital.

Their swift response speaks volumes, both on and off base, to the readiness and professionalism of our Airmen ambassadors. We all play a part in showcasing our base, our Air Force and our nation; I am proud to see Team Yokota represented so well!
