YOKOTA AIR BASE, Japan -- Group Captain Anthony McCormack, incoming United Nations Command (Rear) commander, this is the first time in the history of UNC (Rear) that a non-U.S. UN officer assumes command. The UNC (Rear) is composed of eight nations accredited to the United Nations Command: Australia, Canada, France, New Zealand, The Philippines, Thailand, Turkey, and the United Kingdom of Great Britain. Memorial Day is observed on the last Monday of May and was designated to pay tribute to U.S. men and women who died while serving their country.
