Airlifter of the Week

Staff Sgt. Napoleon Ortiz, 36th Airlift Squadron aircrew scheduler, is presented a coin by Col. Mark August, 374th Airlift Wing commander, Mar. 1, 2013, at Yokota Air Base, Japan. Ortiz received the coin for being recognized as the Yokota Airlifter of the Week. He manages daily scheduling for 75 enlisted aviators. Ortiz, a cross-trainee who has been operational for four months, has already flown 20 sorties for 28 flight hours, moving 35 passengers and 73,000 pounds of cargo. Ortiz’s squadron submitted him for Airlifter of the Week for his exemplary feats on a recent mission where he loaded and transported a fuel tanker truck in order to recover a stranded Navy EA-18G.
