"Thank You" is not necessary; U.S. forces honored to help reopen Sendai

A Japanese thank you note made of large pine trees was spotted in the sand a half-mile from runway 27 at Sendai Airport April 3. The airport was devastated by the March 11 earthquake and tsunami and with help from the 353rd Special Operations Group, Kadena Air Base, Japan, re-opened March 16 and became a hub for humanitarian aid.
