A 'fresh' idea for Fukushima
ONAHAMA, Japan -- A water pump arrives at Onahama port, Fukushima Prefecture, March 28, 2011. The pump is part of a system of high pressure pumps and hoses that will be used to spray freshwater from barges onto the Fukushima nuclear power plant. Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force vessels towed the barges full of freshwater from Yokosuka to the site. Eight Yokota Airmen designed and created necessary adapters, pressure valves and other pieces of equipment to modify the pumps for the mission. (U.S. Air Force photo/Osakabe Yasuo)
