Yokota Airmen maintain life-saving equipment

YOKOTA AIR BASE, Japan -- Staff Sgt. Jose Aguilar, 374th Operations Support Squadron aircrew flight equipment craftsman, verifies aircrew survival vest have all the required survival equipment Sept. 2. In case of an emergency landing in unknown terrain the survival vest carries items such as a compass, knife, first-aid kit among other useful survival equipment. Aircrew flight equipment technicians ensure life-saving survival equipment used by aircrew members is properly functioning by inspecting and maintaining items such as flight helmets, oxygen masks, parachutes, flotation devices, survival kits, helmet mounted devices, aircrew night vision and other ocular systems. They also check anti-gravity garments, aircrew eye and respiratory protective equipment, chemical biological protective oxygen masks and coveralls, and other types of aircrew flight equipment and aircrew chemical defense systems.
