Yokota hosts Memorial Day services
YOKOTA AIR BASE, Japan -- Yokota Airmen render salutes during the National Anthem May 25 during the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9555 Memorial Day ceremony near Nina Circle. Gen. John A. Logan, commander of the Grand Army of the Republic , officially proclaimed Memorial Day on May 5, 1868. The holiday was first observed on May 30, 1868, when flowers were placed on the graves of Union and Confederate soldiers at Arlington National Cemetery. (U.S. Air Force photo/Master Sgt.
