YOKOTA AIR BASE, Japan -- Airman 1st Class Erica Green, 374th Security Forces Squadron, guards a Northwest Airlines Boeing 747 Freighter on the base flightline March 23. Two Northwest cargo aircraft diverted to the base following the crash of a FedEx MD-11 cargo plane at Narita International Airport. The crash, which killed the pilot and co-pilot, forced the closure of one of the airport's two runways. It was the first deadly crash at Narita -- the main air hub for international flights to Tokyo -- since the airport opened in 1978. (U.S. Air Force photo/Osakabe Yasuo)
