Major General Naoki Kajiwara receives the Legion of Merit

Japanese Ground Self-Defense Force Maj. Gen. Naoki Kajiwara, Director General, Defense Plans and Policy Department, Japan Joint Staff, is presented the Legion of Merit by U.S. Marine Corps Maj. Gen. Christopher Mahoney, Deputy Commander, Unites States Forces Japan, during a ceremony at Yokota Air Base, Japan, Aug. 8, 2019. Kajiwara's engagements provided education and open dialogue on Japan's defense policy, the organization of Japan's national security structure, and perspective on regional security. His leadership built consensus to expand the Japan Self-Defense Force's contributions globally.
