US, international airborne forces soar in annual New Year's Jump
Paratroopers from the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF) 1st Airborne Brigade and the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Division prepare for take-off aboard a U.S. Air Force C-130J Super Hercules from the 36th Airlift Squadron at Yokota Air Base, Japan, Jan. 7, 2024. A tradition dating back to the 1960s, this event aims to bring good luck to JGSDF paratroopers in the new year and strengthen the bonds between allied nations as they renew the shared goal of safeguarding peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
