How it’s done: AMXS Communication and Navigation Airmen
Airman 1st Class Alexis Smith, 374th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron C-130 communication and navigation journeyman, carries out a voltage check on a chaff and flare cartridge hard point with A1C Keith Steve, 374th AMXS C-130 communication and navigation journeyman, before installing fresh rounds during routine C-130J Super Hercules maintenance at Yokota Air Base, Japan, Feb. 9, 2022. All maintenance operations begin the same way, by booting up the Aircraft’s on-board computer and performing a diagnostic test. If something’s malfunctioning, the system will produce an error code for communication and navigation Airmen use to locate a broken part or ensure safe conditions for installing new hardware.
