The two Child Development Centers will temporarily consolidate their provided services to the Yume CDC starting on April 17, 2017, at Yokota Air Base, Japan. For the Yokota personnel who utilize the Kibo CDC, they will need begin taking their children to the Yume CDC on the effective date.

The CDC consolidation has been put into place since the centers do not have the proper amount of staff to effectively provide care of children at both locations.

“By consolidating the centers it will enable us to provide all of the children the best care and learning environment possible,” said Rashaud Smith, 374th Force Support Squadron airman and family services flight chief. “Each child will remain with their current caregiver as they move to the Yume facility.”

As the move to the Yume center is made, the only other current change is the Part-Day Enrichment will be temporarily discontinued until further notice. The program will be halted starting on April 14.

Another avenue Yokota families have for child care is the Expanded Child Care. This program assists families in obtaining high-quality child care from licensed or affiliated providers at or near the installation for children between the ages of two weeks to 12 years old.
