Japan – U.S. Joint concert

Yokota Air Base, Japan --  Music is a universal language that everyone can enjoy, regardless of nation or language, everyone can share and experience it as one.

Separated by a language barrier but united by a universally understood love of music, members of Yokota Air Base and its surrounding communities attended a Japan - U.S. joint concert, February 3, at Musashimurayama City, Japan.

The concert highlighted the Japan – U.S. partnership to further foster understanding and the relationship between the two allies.

“My hope is that this event may be the start of new exchanges, starting from the performers gathered here and spreading among all those who live in the area,” Mr. Fujino Masaru, Musashimurayama City mayor.

Among the performers participating in the concert was the U.S. Air Force Band of the Pacific, Yokota Samurai Daiko, Yokota Tanabata Dancers, Musashimurayama Wind Ensemble, Iri Tenjin Daiko preservation group and Kids Dance Studio VIGOES.

“We are truly privileged to have such talented friends and neighbors in our surrounding communities and from our base,” said Col. Sergio J. Vega, 374th Airlift Wing vice-commander. “I want to thank our members of Team Yokota for being here as well and for representing the professionalism and excellence of Yokota Air Base and the U.S. Air Force.”

In addition to representing the base, these events provide a unique opportunity for Team Yokota to interact and connect with the local communities, which helps to foster and deepen their relationship.

“I look forward to build upon the foundation of friendship and support that we share,” added Vega.
