Team Yokota kicked-off the Air Force Assistance Fund (AFAF) campaign, March 19, 2018 and will continue fundraising efforts through April 27, 2018.

The AFAF consists of four charity organizations to help Airmen and their families in need: Air Force Enlisted Village, LeMay Foundation, Air Force Villages Charitable Foundation and the Air Force Aid Society.

The Air Force Enlisted Village assists with providing homes for surviving spouses. The LeMay Foundation helps keep spouses in their homes by providing financial assistance. Air Force Villages Charitable Foundation provides a retirement community for widows of retired Air Force officers and the Air Force Aid Society provides financial assistance to Airmen, active duty and retired, officers and enlisted, as well as widows and widowers.

During the campaign, money will be raised through various fundraising events as well as the Payroll Deduction Program. This year's goal is to raise $49,356 and make 100 percent contact.

“The monetary goal for funds is approximately $49,000,” said Master Sgt. Johnathan Marker, 374th Airlift Wing Plans and Exercises, wing plans and program manager. “Although it just kicked off in the last few days we are hoping to exceed that goal this year. Another goal is 100 percent contact and I think that is the most important goal of all. It goes along with awareness; additionally, it’s getting everyone to know there is a benefit out there for you if you need it and other service members reap the benefits of your contributions to the campaign and to each one of the charities.”

Events will be held over the coming weeks to raise awareness, solicit donations and give everybody the opportunity learn about the AFAF and the charities within it.

“It’s giving back to Airmen,” said Marker. “It’s helping support our network and our family in the U.S. Air Force.” There are different charities within the Air Force Assistance Fund program that we are donating to and those charities come back and support every aspect of the Air Force.”
