Anderson, 374th Mission Support Group commander, how to form rice cake into a flattened round shape during pounding rice event hosted by Japan Air Self-Defense Force at Yokota Air Base, Japan, Dec. 12, 2018. After the steamed rice is pounded, it is broken into smaller pieces and formed into a flattened round shape and coated with sweet roasted soybean flour, soy sauce, grated radish with soy sauce, or filled with anko (sweet red bean paste).
