YOKOTA AIR BASE, Japan -- The Pacific Air Forces Air Postal Squadron has been sorting and delivering two to three times the amount of mail during the holiday season while working seven days a week to ensure an increased flow of mail can be sorted and delivered across the region. Yokota Air Base’s geographical location makes it an ideal place for the PACAF AIRPS due to the installation’s close proximity to the squadron’s detachments and ability to collaborate with two international airports.
During this time of year, members of the PACAF AIRPS integrate an additional transport vehicle to their daily operations to ensure an increased flow of mail can be sorted and delivered across the region. The squadron oversees operations for a transportation flight and 11 locations across the Pacific to serve more than 355,000 patrons across U.S. Indo-Pacific Command.
Once the PACAF AIRPS sorts local mail for Yokota residents it is delivered to the 374th Force Support Squadron post office. Community volunteers work alongside 374th FSS postal clerks to move as many packages as possible ensuring normal parcels as well as gifts from loved ones are safely delivered for the holidays.
