FSS facility hours change in effort to maintain sustainability

YOKOTA AIR BASE, Japan --  Beginning June 1, a number of facilities within the 374th Force Support Squadron will begin new hours of operations.

These changes are being made in an effort to reduce electrical consumption and to enable long-term sustainability of the base infrastructure.

"We are continually looking at our facility hours to ensure we are meeting customer's needs while adhering to sound business practices," said Lt. Col. Grant Vineyard, 374 FSS commander. "With a push for energy conservation throughout the base, we had to adjust hours to our facilities."

Vineyard added changes to the facility hours were carefully considered; a committee discussed numerous options to include consolidating facilities, but decided that was not the best option for the population.

Facility changes will be as follows:

· Officers' Club Lounge Friday and Saturday 5 - 10 p.m.
· Enlisted Club Sunday through Thursday closed at 9 p.m.
· Youth Center Monday through Thursday 2 - 6 p.m.; Friday and Saturday 2 - 7 p.m.
· Arts & Crafts Center Tuesday through Friday 10 a.m. - 7 p.m.; Closed Sunday
· Outdoor Recreation Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 9:30 a.m. - 6 p.m.
· Par 3 Golf Course Wednesday through Monday 7 a.m. - 6 p.m.; Closed Tuesday
· Taiyo Community Center Monday through Friday 10 a.m. - 8 p.m.; Saturday 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.; Closed Sunday
· Yujo Community Center Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. - 7 p.m.; Closed Sunday
· Car Wash Daily 6:30 a.m. - 4 p.m.

"During these times of budgetary constraints, not all cuts are within our specific control," said Capt. Douglas Hickey, 374 FSS operations officer. "The money is very limited at this time so we, as a squadron, are making adjustments to be able to continue providing the same level of service."

The 374 FSS strives to provide the best customer service possible. If customers find they are or are not receiving services that meet their needs, feedback is strongly encouraged.

"Wing leadership wants your feedback, whether through the commander's action line, chain of command or ICE comments," said Vineyard. "Your input gives commanders a better understanding of how budget challenges affect Yokota, which helps us better care for our Airmen and their families."

Some facilities are already marketing the upcoming hour changes, however, a complete listing will be found in the June edition of the Horizons magazine.
