The Community Assessment launches March 29, 2013, at Yokota Air Base, Japan, and is distributed to approximately 50 percent of Active Duty Airmen, their spouses and Air Force civilians stationed here.

The Community Assessment is a survey that provides community members a direct voice to the Air Force and wing leaders about the health and resiliency of their community. The results of this survey are used by Air Force leadership to determine base needs and community enhancement projects to improve quality of life for the families who reside here, according to Ron Draper, the community support coordinator.

Draper said although the survey is voluntary, it is important for community members to do their part.

"The survey is important because it addresses ¬community wellness, our strengths, and any risk our Airmen and families are dealing with that leaders may or may not be aware of, and it allows these issues to be addressed and helps to ensure mission and family readiness," Draper said.

At other similar locations, the CA has led to increased support networks, stronger INTRO programs and Singles Network Groups, improved outreach by base agencies and job opportunities for spouses, according to Draper.

This survey is completely anonymous. The Air Force has contracted the research company, Ipsos, to conduct this survey. Ipsos has designed this survey so that no one - the Air Force, the government, nor Ipsos - can link any aspect of your responses to your personal identifiable information. Airmen and civilian employees will receive emails with a web-link; spouses will receive mail with a web-link.

"If any one question seems too intrusive, the survey should allow you to proceed past that question but keep in mind the more information the survey provides, the more leadership will be able to address your concerns," Draper said. "This survey is one-of-a-kind because it allows the community to be heard, let's take this opportunity to look at what we can make better here at Yokota today and in the future.

"Take 30 minutes, speak up and let's make Yokota the best community in our Air Force," he added.
