AFAF campaign kicks off at Yokota

YOKOTA AIR BASE, Japan --  The Air Force Assistance Fund is a program allowing Airmen to help Airmen in times of need. It was established as an annual effort to raise funds for the charitable affiliates providing support to the Air Force family -- active-duty members, family members, retirees, reservists, guardsmen who are suffering financial difficulties.

The four charitable affiliates are the Air Force Aid Society, Air Force Enlisted Village, Air Force Village and the General and Mrs. Curtis E. LeMay Foundation.

These organizations assist Air Force members with emergencies, education and retirement homes.

With this year's goal at $57,904, Yokota launches the 2013 AFAF Campaign March 25 - May 3.

"What truly makes AFAF special is that it is the one charity drive entirely dedicated to giving back to our Air Force community," said Col. Mark August, 374th Airlift Wing commander. "This program is all about taking care of our Airmen and I'm honored to launch this year's campaign here at Yokota."
