Though Feb. 11 through 17 marked Random Act of Kindness Week, one organization at Yokota Air Base, Japan, delivers random acts of kindness year-round.

For their own random acts of kindness program, the Yokota First Sergeants' Council handed out $50 gift certificates for the commissary to 10 unsuspecting service members E-1 through E-4 at Yokota.

The program, which started approximately two years ago, grants different random acts of kindness throughout the year to members of the Yokota community.

In the past the first sergeants bought gas for people, handed out gift cards and even paid for childcare through random acts of kindness, said Master Sgt. Ryan Ebert, 374th Force Support Squadron first sergeant.

The random acts of kindness are not conducted on any regular schedule as the council wants it to be just that, random. Though there is no guarantee as to when the next random acts will be delivered those stationed at Yokota, one thing is certain.

"We started random acts is to show everyone in the Yokota community that the first sergeants are here for them," said Master Sgt. Kendall Prude, 374th Logistics Readiness Squadron first sergeant. "We (first sergeants) are here to support. We are here when you need us."

The First Sergeants' Council funds the random acts of kindness program through Operation Warm Heart, a financial assistance fund sponsored by the First Sergeants Council. In addition to the random acts of kindness, Operation Warm Heart provides interest-free loans or grants to service members in need throughout the year.
