Airmen and families at Yokota have many options when it comes to off-base activities, and several can be found through the 374th Force Support Squadron Outdoor Recreation.

Whether it's climbing Mount Fuji, mountain biking at Fujiten, or deep sea fishing at Sagami Bay, there are endless opportunities and adventures to experience with the Outdoor Adventure program.

Since these activities fill up fast, it is up to the individual to sign up.

"Registration begins 30 days prior for all-day trips, tours and classes," said Anthony Fichera, Outdoor Recreation director. "I challenge people to find something they are interested in and try it out."

Upcoming trips include bungee jumping and a ropes course on July 21 and Mount Fuji hiking on July 11, 14, 18, 25 and 28.

In addition to coordinating trips, the staff works around the clock to find the latest equipment to make sure you can have the best experience possible in Japan.

"The Outdoor Adventure program is just one piece of the pie that Outdoor Recreation has to offer," said Christopher Walker, Outdoor Recreation assistant. "We have a lot of great equipment to include; garden tools, party and sports equipment and camping gear that may be rented for various occasions."

If you are unsure whether or not you can take advantage of these services, know that almost anyone who carries military identification can participate in the programs.

"As long as you are a U.S. military, dependent, retiree, Department of Defense civilian or base employee, you are able to rent out equipment or go on any of our tours we provide," said Walker.

Individuals interested in learning more about what Outdoor Recreation has to offer can contact them at 225-4552 or go to their facebook page.

"I personally draw satisfaction from watching others allowing themselves to have new experiences and be challenged in new ways," said Fichera. "Outdoor experiences tend to create a healthy lifestyle and rich memories."
