Over the next week, the 374th Medical Group will be upgrading its phone system with the enhanced Telecommunications Modernization application, TELMOD. The Air Force Surgeon General mandated the use of TELMOD, as the Air Forces Medical System's automated call distribution system, back in 2007. The 374 MDG will now be one of approximately 58 facilities throughout the Air Force using this new software.

The implementation of TELMOD will provide the MDG a centralized appointment call center, that in-turn will route phone calls to the appropriate areas within the facility. Customers will now be able to make medical and dental appointments, access the pharmacy refill line, or speak to a TRICARE representative, all by dialing just one phone number 225-8864.

The new system also assists with the routing and reposting of calls to help better balance calls among the appointment staff, which in-turn can help forecast the demand for staffing during higher-volume call times. TELMOD software can provide detailed reports and management tools needed to monitor and analyze the appointment line's performance, showing where improvements are needed and where to take fast effective action. Overall the system upgrade will make it easier for the MDG to efficiently manage the 500 calls received per day, as well as enhance the customer's experience when trying to access health care.

The project start date is scheduled for equipment installation starting the 30th of January, with a system "cut over" date of 9 February 2012. If you have any questions regarding TELMOD, please contact Capt Tara Lovell at 225-7265.
