Come one, come all, to Celebrate America!

Fireworks, hotdogs and good times is often what comes to mind when thinking about Independence Day. On July 2, the 374th Force Support Squadron will bring those traditions and more to life with the Celebrate America festival.

"This is a great community event for the base to come out and celebrate Independence Day," said Amanda Watson, 374th FSS supervisory marketing specialist.

Several events will take place throughout the day along with music entertainment, festivities and prizes, concluding with fireworks at 8:40 p.m. Those wishing to participate should make sure to sign up by the deadlines of events.

6 a.m. show time and start time 6:30 a.m. - Firecracker 5K at Yokota Field.

8 a.m. tee-off between 8 a.m. and noon - Goofy Golf at Yokota Par 3.

8 a.m. show time and start time 8:30 a.m. - Leaky Kon Tiki at the Natatorium (register at Taiyo Community Center by July 1).

9 a.m. - Colossal Cookie Challenge at the Taiyo Community Center.

9 a.m. - Celebrate America Scavenger Hunt at the Taiyo Community Center (register at Taiyo Community Center July 1 at 3:00 p.m.)

2:30 p.m. show time and cake entries entered at 2 p.m., pie entries at 2:30 p.m.Cake and Pie Contest at Hangar 15 (register at Taiyo Community Center by July 1).

2:30 p.m. - Basketball 3-Point Shootout outside Hangar 15 (register at Taiyo Community Center by July 1).

4 p.m. - Water Balloon Toss outside Hangar 15.

FSS staff will give out gift cards and prizes for participants who place in events at the FSS information booth at Hangar 15 after 5 p.m.

With so many events taking place, the FSS staff has asked for volunteers to help with the estimated 4,500 people attending.
