Despite ongoing efforts in support of Operation Tomodachi, Team Yokota came together to raise more than $74,000 for the Air Force Assistance Fund, 130 percent more than originally projected for the total base goal, adding to the  $7.2 million the Air Force as a whole has already contributed.

"Yokota historically uses up to $100,000 per year from the AFAF," said 1st Lt. Ryan McKinley, the installation project officer for the AFAF. "Giving back is our way of supporting our Yokota Airmen and their families."

The AFAF is a nonprofit organization that strictly benefits Air Force active duty members, retirees and dependents. It supports the following four programs: the Air Force Aid Society, Air Force Enlisted Village Indigent Widows' Fund, Air Force Villages Indigent Widows' Fund and the General and Mrs. Curtis E.
