In the recent edition of "Portraits in Courage" released Dec. 10 a Yokota Airman was recognized for his unwavering bravery in a time of need.

Captain Eric Quidley, 374th Mission Support Group executive officer, was deployed as the lead logistician with the 2nd Brigade, 205th Corps in Afghanistan, when two Afghan Security Guard (ASG) trucks were attacked by insurgents.

Outgunned and outmanned, Capt. Quidley, sped his vehicle toward the attackers, forcing them to retreat preventing the bullet-ridden vehicles from sustaining further damage.

For his act of gallantry, Capt. Quidley was awarded the Bronze Star Medal.

Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Norton Schwartz and Chief Master Sgt. of the Air Force James Roy said the collection "serves as an unremitting tribute to the spirit and accomplishments of all Airmen, poignantly reminding us of the sacrifices that are required, by service members and their families, to secure the many blessings of liberty."
