Yokota inclement weather outage information update Published July 7, 2010 By 374th Airlift Wing Public Affairs YOKOTA AIR BASE, Japan -- Due to heavy rains and flooding, the East side housing area of Yokota Air Base is still experiencing a power outage. This outage has caused water service disruptions in three housing towers. As a result, residents of several towers have been evacuated to contingency lodging. Residents in many East side Garden Units are also still without power. Maintenance and repairs are being made to the electrical systems to bring power back to the entire installation, but there is no estimated time to full power restoration. Should residents need additional clothing, medication or other necessities from their homes, residents are asked to utilize the entry control point to enter the towers to ensure safety. Currently two of three transformers that provide power to the East side are inoperative. While the Civil Engineer Squadron is working as quickly as possible to fix and/or replace the inoperative units, we ask that those with power minimize their electrical consumption. This will reduce the burden on the one remaining transformer and maximize the number of housing units that are able to be plugged back onto the power grid. Colonel Todd Freece, 374th Mission Support Group Commander, will host two Town Hall meetings today, 7 July, at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. This meeting will have representatives from across the wing to answer your questions. Additional information will be distributed through official channels, posted on Channel 20 and www.yokota.af.mil, and is also available by calling 225-2100. If you require immediate assistance, please contact your unit first sergeant or CES Unit Control Center at 225-7310.
