Samurai Readiness Training Published Feb. 19, 2010 By Airman 1st Class Lynsie Lorenz 374th Airlift Wing Public Affairs YOKOTA AB, Japan -- Members at Yokota strengthened their deployment processing skills by participating in Samurai Readiness Training here, Feb. 12. Through Samurai Readiness Training, units assigned to the 374th Airlift Wing practiced receiving and shipping cargo from all over the world. They also practiced receiving personnel from other bases and different aircraft. "There is a set schedule of exercises that are done throughout the year," said Master Sgt. Ken Mindel, 374th Airlift Wing Exercise Evaluator. "The training is squeezed in wherever it will fit and not interfere with other things." Samurai Readiness Training is held quarterly and includes all members of a selected unit. "Training is the same each time, the only thing that changes is the type of cargo and what the units are tasked with," said Sergeant Mindel. The 374th AW units are evaluated throughout the year by an exercise evaluation team from within their units. This evaluation is designed to see how each unit accomplishes the tasks they are given.
