Menchaca 374th Airlift Wing Public Affairs YOKOTA AIR BASE, Japan -- Yokota Air Base was nominated in Nov. for the John L. Hennessy award and will compete against seven other bases throughout the Air Force for this award. The Hennessy trophy is an annual award presented to an Air Force installation, in single and multiple facility categories, for the best food service program in the Air Force. Recognized by U.S. presidents as a leader in his field, Hennessy was one of the nation's most capable and respected hotel and restaurant executives. The Hennessy Trophy Awards Program was established, in 1956, to promote excellence in customer service and meal quality and inspire high morale, motivation, mission support and a professional image through pride and spirited competition. "I think the award would be a great testament to what our Airmen do each and every day, we would be very proud to have the award, on display," said Master Sgt. Quardrick Brumfield, 374th Force Support Squadron Samurai Café section chief. The award is based on the entire scope of an installation's food service program exhibiting excellence in management effectiveness, force readiness support, food quality, employee and customer relations, resource conservation, training and safety awareness. "We provide quality nutritious meals for the 700 plus dorm residents," said Master Sgt. Brumfield. "We are proud to represent Yokota on this Air Force level award. It is our desire to get better every day." For more information on services operations, contact Services Marketing at 225-3308.
