The 730th Air Mobility Squadron hosted a Dependents Experiencing Mobility Operations day, Nov. 14, in support of deployed service members' dependents.

The DEMO day was a way for family members to be able to understand the daily operations during a deployed mission by participating in part of the process, said Paula Hubbard, 730th AMS secretary.

"The goal of the DEMO day was to provide an understanding of the daily mobility operations," said Lt. Col. Darren Sprunk, 730th AMS commander.
Colonel Sprunk came up with the idea to expand upon the Kids Understanding Deployment Operation Support, or KUDOS, event the 374th Airlift Wing hosts annually.

The family members started the day by participating in light physical training, an obstacle course and a self-aid buddy care demonstration.

"It was fun watching the kids go through the different stations," said Melissa Choate, wife of Tech. Sgt. Clayton Choate, 730th AMS flight line expeditor.

After experiencing how the squadron started their day, the families took a tour of the passenger terminal, learned how pallets are built, looked at a C-5 engine and explored a C-17 aircraft.

"I had fun going on the C-17, learning about the fuel cell and learning how it only takes four bolts to hold the engine to the plane," said Allyson Manns, daughter of Capt. Matt Manns, 730th AMS maintenance operations officer.

"We wanted to have some initiatives that really show we're taking care of our families," said Colonel Sprunk. "The squadron plans to do events like this every six months."
