The Air Force Inspection Agency's recent full-scale checkup performed on the 374th Medical Group resulted in the following conclusion: not only fit for duty, but the epitome of healthcare providers.

The medical group received the highest rating possible on the Health Services Inspection conducted in April, due in large part to a team effort, said Cheryl Blair, 374th MDG quality services manager.

"Our commander and deputy commander provided the leadership, guidance and professionalism that created an environment of teamwork, continuous readiness, improvement and mentorship," she said. "They have created an enjoyable workplace, staff morale is good and we're motivated to provide the best possible healthcare."

HSIs assess the ability of Air Force medical units to fulfill their peacetime and wartime missions, including provision of medical care, success in training and equipping deployable personnel and support of the host-wing mission.

Active-duty medical treatment facilities receive HSIs every 36 months on average. Inspectors grade more than 100 areas within the medical group.

While an inspection of this magnitude may seem daunting, Master Sgt. Larry Traylor, 374th MDG NCO in charge of quality services, said proper planning and preparation made the desired outcome achievable.

"The main preparation for this inspection was the self-assessments conducted prior to the inspection," he said. "Several duty sections identified discrepancies and provided accurate and timely fixes."

He said although the inspection agency provided checklists for each element inspected, a thorough knowledge of Air Force instructions was paramount.

Ms. Blair said the rating signifies the medical group is performing at a level exceeding mission requirements.

"Our procedures and activities are carried out in a far superior manner," she said. "Our community can be confident and trust that the medical group is providing safe, quality healthcare and this has been validated by the top leaders in the Air Force Medical Service."
