Yokota kicked off Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month, known as SAAPM, with a proclamation signed by Col. Richard McElhaney, 374th Airlift Wing commander, April 7, 2026, at Yokota Air Base, Japan. This year’s SAAPM theme is “STEP FORWARD. Prevent. Report. Advocate.” The STEP FORWARD campaign calls on individuals to use their personal and collective strength to advance meaningful change in preventing and responding to sexual violence.
