Yokota calendar increases event awareness Published Jan. 28, 2016 By Senior Airman David Owsianka 374th Airlift Wing Public Affairs YOKOTA AIR BASE, Japan -- From taking classes to volunteering to jumpstarting a healthier lifestyle, Yokota members have the ability to find out the events are taking place within the base community. The new Yokota Base Calendar is the go to place to find all the upcoming events from the installation support community, and can be found here. "The calendar is extremely important because it enables the Yokota community to be well-informed about what is going on," said Micaela Alexander, 374th Airlift Wing community support coordinator. "Our vision is that the community will utilize this calendar and rely on it to plan events as well. There are many great opportunities happening on base for people to get involved in." Installation support offices update the calendar as events are coordinated or scheduled. Those offices include: Airman and Family Readiness Center, Chapel, Child and Youth Programs, the Equal Opportunity office and more. Each office is assigned a specific color to help base personnel easily recognize which section is in charge of each event. Events vary from a daily mass provided by the Chapel to a Totes of Hope Donation event hosted by the Red Cross. There are two ways a person can view events: A mini calendar is located on the upper-right side of the website's home page. The calendar dates highlighted in yellow represent days with at least one scheduled event. A list of events, including time and location, appear by clicking on the date. Clicking on the title displays more detailed information about the event. A larger, main calendar is located at the bottom of the mini calendar section on the homepage. Click on "Yokota AB Calendar" text to access the main calendar. It has a list of each event in order of date and time. The organizations and their corresponding colors are listed at the bottom of the page. "It's a great thing to have information so readily available so everyone can easily access it and stay current on upcoming events," said Lt. Col. David Mansberger, 374th Wing Staff Agency wing chaplain. "I hope this will help Yokota members and their families build good relationships and grow in their faith and family." The calendar provides Yokota personnel with a multitude of events held throughout the base, allowing people to engage on a social basis with fellow service members and their families.
