YOKOTA AIR BASE, Japan --  Yokota Air Base, Japan conducted its first ever bilateral wing retreat Jan 17, 2014. The event included 12 Air Force members and 12 Japanese Air Self-Defense Force members. Together, the American flag and the Japanese flag were lowered and retired during the paying of each national anthem. The retreat ceremony both signals the end of the official duty day and serves as a ceremony for paying respect to the flag.
