The 374th Medical Group is now offering all Tricare Prime patients at Yokota the opportunity to receive medical advice and access a number of medical programs through MiCare.

MiCare is a confidential online healthcare messaging system offering patients the ease of access without waiting in line or traffic.

"MiCare is a wonderful new program that's going to save time for everyone," said Capt. Madelyn Waychoff, 374th Medical Operations Squadron. "Secure e-mail communication is easy and quick, and patients can actually view their lab and test results online as well as make appointments. I hope everyone takes advantage of this great opportunity."

The website also offers patients education through an extensive library reviewed by board-certified healthcare professionals from leading health institutions in the U.S.

"MiCare is the new way to communicate directly with your healthcare team, at your convenience, any time. MiCare's secure messaging technology protects your privacy so you can email questions about your health and request appointments or medication refills. In turn, your healthcare team can remind you when your preventive health screening or immunizations are due. As a two-way communication tool, we can partner to provide you and your family the 'best care in the Pacific'," said Col. Eveline Yao, 374 MDG commander.

Once registered, patients will remain in the system and allow for ease of connecting with the gaining clinic at their next duty location.

In the future, patients will also be able to transfer their electronic health record directly to their personal health record maintained on MiCare.

There are a number of ways to register for MiCare:

- Active Duty members may register online with a CAC at http://www.afms.af.mil/micare and select "click here for MiCare Access".
  - Family members must visit the family care clinic to enroll. After visiting the clinic, individuals will receive an email to complete their registration. - Once parents are enrolled, they can add their children through MiCare.
