How government shutdown affects Yokota Published Oct. 1, 2013 374th Airlift Wing Public Affairs YOKOTA AIR BASE, Japan -- The U.S. Government shutdown affects Yokota Air Base in a variety of ways. As the situation evolves, base leadership is committed to providing you the most up-to-date information. Here is the latest status of programs affected here at Yokota: PCS Travel Update: For Military Personnel: - Military personnel with orders in hand can proceed to their next duty station - Military personnel awaiting PCS orders will not receive orders until the shutdown is resolved - For members with Oct DEROS, AFPC will determine the need to push DEROS from Oct to Nov or let the DEROS expire until further notice For Civilian Personnel (APF): - Employees with orders authenticated Sept. 30, 2013 or earlier and no longer in furlough status are authorized to complete PCS actions - Employees remaining in furlough status must stay in place until notified otherwise Civilian Furlough: - Headquarters AF authorized all civilian employees at the MAJCOM level and below to return to work starting Monday, Oct. 7, stateside. Pay: - Our latest guidance from the Secretary of Defense indicates that military members should be paid on time - For questions about civilian pay, please contact the Civilian Personnel Office at 225-3921 AETC funded TDYs: - AETC is canceling all AETC funded TDYs. Personnel currently scheduled to go TDY should consult with their unit leadership for further information. - Member's projected for a TDY should be aware that it will be cancelled unless it is an excepted TDY. Those completing excepted travel will not be paid for travel expenses until appropriation occurs. - PME - Not an excepted activity; military members TDY at service schools or civilian institutions under a functional PCS should remain in place. Members attending NCOA or ALS in TDY status must return to home station. - Patient Travel - excepted activity - Emergency Leave - excepted activity Military TA: Not an excepted activity; suspended pending appropriation, Airmen may incur financial costs FSS Services: FSS Services offices will re-open and be operational starting Tuesday, Oct. 8, with the exception of the Taiyo Community Center which will remain closed Oct. 7-11. Additionally many offices may be closed or have reduced hours this week due to the Readiness Week exercise. Team Yokota personnel are strongly encouraged to speak with their leadership about any questions or concerns they have as a result of the government shutdown. Military members and civilians affected by the shutdown should communicate with family members to keep them informed. These times of uncertainty present difficult challenges to our Airmen and their families. Your leaders are engaged and committed to keeping you informed and prepared to carry out the mission.
