Base officials declare “All Clear” following incident outside gate Published Sept. 6, 2013 By 374th Airlift Wing Public Affairs YOKOTA AIR BASE, Japan -- Base officials declared "All Clear" at approximately 12 p.m. Sept. 7, following an incident outside the supply gate four hours earlier. The incident, which initially appeared to be an explosion of unknown origin, prompted the base to assume an increased defensive posture. "We do not perceive a threat to the base at this time. That said, readiness requires us to treat events like this seriously," said Col. Mark August, 374th Airlift Wing commander. "Our first responders and command and control operators acted quickly; I'm proud of their response. Though the incident now appears to have been benign, the investigation with our Japanese partners remains on-going." No injuries or structural damage were reported.
