An awesome display of planets
YOKOTA AIR BASE, Japan -- The brightest and second-brightest planets, Venus (right) and Jupiter come together for a stunning conjunction March 13, 2012, at Yokota Air Base, Japan. A conjunction occurs when two or more plants appear close together in the sky. Although it may look like a shooting star the streak in the center of the photo is actually a C-130 Hercules photographed using an eight second time exposure. (U.S. Air Force photo/Osakabe Yasuo)
