Fifteen members of the 374th Civil Engineer Squadron Horizontal Shop "Dirt Boyz" began snow removal just after 6 p.m. Feb. 14 and continued throughout the morning of Feb. 15, Yokota Air Base, Japan. Five inches of snow fell on base in just over seven hours. The accumulation paled in comparison to the record 15 inches of snow that fell at Yokota Feb. 15-16, 1968, breaking a mark that had stood since 1951. The record snowfall for Tokyo is 18.3 inches in 1883, according to historical records. (U.S. Air Force photo/Osakabe Yasuo)
