Playing of Taps

YOKOTA AIR BASE, Japan -- Honor Guard member, Staff Sgt. Elsa Spencer of the 374th Medical Group, plays Taps during the Memorial Day ceremony at the Officer's Club here May 31. Memorial Day is observed on the last Monday of May and was designated to pay tribute to U.S. men and women who died while serving their country. Yokota's American Legion post 2222 holds the ceremony every year to carry on the tradition which first took place at Arlington National Cemetery in 1868.
