Supply gate closure begins Jan. 31

YOKOTA AIR BASE, Japan --  Starting on Monday, Jan. 31, the current Supply Gate (Gate 5) will be closed to all vehicle traffic.

The gate will be open to pedestrian and bicycle traffic Monday through Friday from 7:15 to 8:15 a.m. and from 4:15 to 5:30 p.m. 

Vehicles requiring vehicle passes and inspection before entering the installation, such as construction vehicles, delivery trucks (AAFES, DECA, supply, etc.) will be required to enter via the Temporary Search Area located adjacent the West Gate (Gate 15). See attachment for more details.

The hours of operation for the Temporary Search Area will be the same as the current Supply Gate, Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Temporary Search Area can only be accessed from the Route 16 northbound lane. Vehicles are prohibited from accessing the Temporary Search Area from the Route 16 southbound lanes.

Vehicles not requiring inspection before entering the installation should enter via an alternate gate (Fussa, Terminal, East). Privately owned vehicles will not be allowed to enter via the Temporary Search Area.

In an effort to minimize the traffic impact to Route 16 and the Temporary Search Area, the following is the suggested schedule for vehicles arriving at the West Temporary Search Area:

6 to 6:50 a.m. (Monday through Friday)
- Vehicles needing day passes but not requiring a vehicle inspection may utilize the Fussa Gate.

6 to 9 a.m. (Monday through Friday) 
-Vehicles supporting service contracts and construction projects arrive via the Temporary Search Area.

9 a.m. to 6 p.m. (Monday through Friday)
- Additional deliveries for services (AAFES, DECA, supply, etc.) are asked to arrive at the Temporary Search Area.

All vehicles that are required to enter through the Temporary Search Area and/or needing to return passes will exit the installation via the Terminal Gate (Gate 12).
