The 374th Mission Support Group hosted their first Senior NCO/Officer's Spouse Orientation here, March 25.

The orientation provided spouses insight on the day-to-day work accomplished by their military spouses.

"The orientation was a way for 374th Mission Support Group spouses to better understand the daily operations of their military sponsors," said 2nd Lt. Jose A. Quintanilla, orientation project officer. "It also provided them the opportunity to witness the Mission Support Group's complex area of responsibility."

Spouses got a stronger overall view of the 374th Mission Support Group after taking part in the program.

"It was a very educational for me and I got a better understanding of what my husband goes through," said Amy Wilson, wife of Senior Master Sgt. Dean Wilson, 374th Civil Engineer Squadron superintendent of heavy repair. "I gained more knowledge on the different aspects of his job."

The day consisted of a briefing from Col. Rafael Quezada, 374th MSG commander, about the overall mission of the group, followed by tours of the Emergency Operations Center, Deployment Reception Control Center, and the Security Forces Squadron Base Defense Operations Center.

"It was great to see the different units and how they work together," said Mrs. Wilson. "It opened my eyes to things that the 374th Mission Support Group does here on Yokota and abroad."

A total of ten spouses took part in the orientation which concluded with the spouses joining their "significant others" at the Yokota Officers Club for lunch.

"We hope this tour becomes a reoccurring event here on Yokota," said 2nd Lt. Quintanilla. "Upon the conclusion of the event, numerous spouses stated they had a better understanding of the tremendous impact the Mission Support Group provides to Yokota and beyond."
